Raining, again, but thankfully, no leaks. Perfect day for a movie marathon, and thanks to my great children, who out did themselves, I have to choose from:
1919: The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
1932: The Most Dangerous Game
1934: Maniac
1953: Phantom from Space
1965: Nightmare Castle
1966: Circus of Fear
Yes, I'm a B-horror movie addict. What's your addiction?

Here it is Christmas Eve, the boys were putting away the last of the decoration boxes, Leora, at work, and husband, at the stores. I myself was vacuuming and thinking about the cookies I still needed to bake.....
"Mom! Mom!! NOW!" I hear from the entry way. Off goes the vacuum, into the entry way I fly, and there, with a panicked look, is Quentin standing on the landing of the stairs, pointing up "Look!"
And what to my wondering eyes appears, but drips, yes drips, of water right onto the first newel, decorated with a pretty red bow. (the newel, not the water) LT, I yell, get some bowls or pots and towels, as I run up the stairs, noticing another drip at the second newel.
Down the hall, up the stairs to Quentin's room (the third floor)looking for drips. Into the attic space, pushing aside recently added insulation I find 1) the exhaust vent pipe had water running down it. Okay, that takes care of it, I think. But, as I leave the attic space and walk past Quentin's computer desk, what do I spy, but moist, bulging clouds, a very realistic 3-D effect, on the mural painted walls. "Quentin!" who comes running, we quickly disconnect the computer, etc and pull the desk away from the wall. I venture back into the attic and crawl behind that wall to find one of the beams saturated. THE ROOF IS LEAKING!! Quick call to husband who is already on his way home from store -- quick synopsis-- and now back to the wall.
Not too long before all this happened, I commented on how just yesterday you could ice skate on the driveway and today, we had a monsoon from Indonesia.
Upon examination of the roof, we found some uplifted shingles. Can't take care of those until it dries out, which will be just when?
So now, the stair banisters, which were decorated in red, green and gold, now have some silver added in, in the form of pots to catch the drips which are slowing.
Those bulging clouds are no longer bulging. Quentin and I pierced them in order to save the wall. A towel is stuffed into the leak in the roof, which will need to be replaced every hour or so.
I think I'll go tie a red ribbon onto those post and bake some cookies.
Merry Christmas!!

You are The Wheel of Fortune
Good fortune and happiness but sometimes a species of
intoxication with success
The Wheel of Fortune is all about big things, luck, change, fortune. Almost always good fortune. You are lucky in all things that you do and happy with the things that come to you. Be careful that success does not go to your head however. Sometimes luck can change.
What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.
I'm not so sure about this.

Well we made it home from DragonCon and had a absolute blast there.
I spent most of the time on the concourse helping Emerald Rose http://www.emeraldrose.com/mainpage.h tm running the sound for the various Bands playing, and recorded all the shows. Now I have 9 Gb of raw wave files to go through and hear exactly what I got.
I really must thank http://madwhistler.livejournal.com/prof ile for his help in the settings on mixing board, one of the best examples of doing the recordings without his help is the show by http://robert-from-ap.livejournal.com/ They now have a 1/2 hour Karaoke set, which isn't so bad, actually it sounds great...except there's no Robert singing on it.
First is to get http://marcgunn.livejournal.com/ his stuff, since he wants to use some of it in a podcast.
Before I do any editing, or copying of music, I think I'll get a good nights sleep. Just before sitting down at the computer, I went out back for some air. Kathy calls me & I come into the house and walk right through the screen door in the kitchen, just what I need another thing to fix. But it was funny....or as Kathy said "Now you know why dad put a piece of duct tape on all the screens when he was here!"
Well another glass of Chianti and I think I'll be off to bed.

Went out and did it. I've been wanting a new hairstyle. Went today. Something different I said, short and layered. When she turned me around to view the finished product (yeah, I didn't watch), my first thought was: Sharon Osborne! (Now if I only had her money) That was almost four weeks ago. I'm slow to post.
More News. Guess the new hair style prompted me. On Friday the 8th, I interviewed for a new position. Monday, the 11th, I got a call back. Tuesday, the 12th, I interviewed again with four intensivists. On Friday, the 15th, they offered me the position and I accepted! Pediatric Sedation Nurse. No nights, No weekends! Excited and a bit nervous. Just finished my resignation letter.

So, in 2004 we moved into our dream house, a big, old, old, historical home with fireplaces & mantels and staircases and wood, lots of wood, etc. A while back, we discussed replacing the tub in the main bathroom. Not long after, occasionally, John would hear dripping while he was at his computer in his "office". We could find no obvious leaks. Last week we finally found and ordered a new tub and shower enclosure. Okay, time to take out the old tub. The dream is changing.
The tub waste line had a crack. Upon tub removal the waste line snapped, leaving an open waste pipe. Off the water goes. Only, we could not find a shut off. Water off to sink & toilet. Kids, you'll have to use our bath, and by the way, Kathy, you can't do laundry. A bowl goes under the waste line to catch any dripping water. John does some more work, we'll be okay for now, tomorrow I'll rip up the floor and replace the pipe. Just a little cloud.
0730: I sit down to a cup of coffee, it's quiet. I hear a drip. Only one. No, couldn't be. A second drip. Into the office I go, look up and the ceiling above John's computer desk is sagging and a third drip falls. Yelling for John, who was upstairs asleep, I grab a towel and a bowl, quick dry the desk, push the monitor and computer aside,, place the bowl, the one drip now became three just as John ran into the room, saw what was happening, disconnects his printer and puts it on the dining room table, disconnects the computer and moves that, I am still catching water drips. He then steps up onto his desk with a much larger bowl and a knife and stabs the sagging ceiling. The ceiling felt much relief.
The bathroom is now completely gutted and a quarter of the floor open. We can't use any water upstairs. Including the master bath. At least we have the 1/2 bath downstairs. But, where do we shower? the kids want to know.
Remember that dream? Why, you'll have to use the shower in the pool room. Life is still good.
